Having enjoyed its festival run, “He Took His Skin Off For Me” premieres online today at Short of the Week.
“If Hollywood and the talent scouts of the feature film industry really do have an eye on the short film world, then someone needs to get Aston and Hummer on the phone ASAP – as this is storytelling of the highest degree.” -Rob Munday, editor at Short of the Week
If you still have a hankering to see “Skin” on the big screen, though, it’s playing this Saturday at the London Short Film Festival as part of the intriguingly-titled program F*cked up Love: Gentle Disasters. Ben and I will both be in attendance.
“He Took His Skin Off For Me” has now been accepted into roughly 14 film festivals, with more likely to come. The full list can be found on the website: http://hetookhisskinoffforme.com/.
This Friday our short film “He Took His Skin Off For Me”, based on my short story published in Devil’s Lake, will premiere at the 2014 Palm Springs Film Festival.
I am so thrilled this film is finally getting out there and I can’t wait to share it with you all. Follow the film’s page to keep up to date with screening locations and dates – this baby’s gonna travel the world.
It begins! The Kickstarter page for my latest project with Ben Aston has launched. You can find the link here: He Took His Skin Off For Me. The page features stunning test footage, a video of me reading the story, and more.
As the writer of the story on which the film is based, it’s been amazing to see the project garner so much enthusiasm and support. One of the rewards for donating is that I will write a new, exclusive, personalized short story for the person, using a character name and setting of their choice. We’ve already had three backers select this option, and I can’t wait to see what wacky prompts they give me.
Check out the Kickstarter and official page for more information and news.
A certain arrangement of words, in fact, that were recently published in Devil’s Lake as the short story He took off his skin for me. The four minute video was made by dashing filmmaker Ben Aston. You can find the video of my reading here.
My short story, recently featured in Devil’s Lake, is being adapted for the big screen by filmmaker Ben Aston. We just did a test shoot and the imagery is beautiful and haunting (“majestic,” in the words of our DP). You can follow the film’s progress here.
The Spring 2013 issue of Devil’s Lake has just come out, featuring my short story “He took off his skin for me” as finalist for the Driftless Prize in Fiction. Enjoy the beautiful issue here.
